How Does Cutera Laser Treatment Work?

Cutera Laser Treatment

Receiving a laser treatment is one of the best ways to fix your skin problems and other aesthetic issues. At the Premiere Center for Health and Wellness in Cincinnati, Ohio, we can use an advanced Cutera laser to remove unwanted hair, improve skin, fix bulging veins, and address other imperfections. Read on to learn more about the benefits of receiving one of our laser treatments.

How Does Cutera Laser Treatment Work?

Our Cutera laser is a sophisticated device that can be used to treat several different aesthetic issues. Each of our laser treatments will use a distinct technique to enhance your appearance.

Removing Unwanted Hair

Our laser is very good at removing unwanted hair from your legs, face, arms, chest, and other parts of your body. During a laser hair removal treatment, we will use our laser to gently transmit energy into your desired location. This energy will change the temperature of some of your hair follicles.

As these hairs heat up, your individual follicles will become damaged. During the next one to two weeks, the individual hairs in your target area may begin to shed. As you continue to get laser treatments, your hair will become finer and sparser. After you complete all of your laser treatments, the hair in your target area will be significantly reduced.

Improving Your Skin

In addition to removing unwanted hair from your body, we can also diminish wrinkles, scars, and other skin problems. We can correct these issues by providing you with a laser resurfacing treatment.

During a laser resurfacing treatment, we will use our laser to heat up the skin in your target area. As your tissues become warmer, the top layers of your skin will be removed. Removing these layers will cause your body to produce new skin cells. As these healthy cells increase and your old skin cells fade away, your skin will become tighter and smoother.

Treating Vein Issues

As you become older, you might develop twisted, visible veins on your body. We can use laser treatments to minimize these unwanted veins. During your laser treatment, we will send beams of light into your twisted veins. As these blood vessels get warmer, your veins will become damaged and your body will make scar tissue.

Your scar tissue will cause your unwanted veins to seal up. As these veins close, your blood will begin to move through some of the healthier veins in your body. Over time, your unwanted veins will gradually deteriorate, and your body will remove these blood vessels from your treatment area.

Correcting Pigmentation Problems

You may develop dark spots and other pigmentation issues if you spend a lot of time outside. We can fix these problems by carefully heating the top layers of your skin. This heat will minimize the visibility of your spots and other pigmentation problems. After you receive your laser treatment, your skin tone will improve and your face will look healthy and bright.

How Many Laser Treatments Will I Need?

As you might expect, it will take us varying lengths of time to address each of the cosmetic issues described above. For example, if you would like to decrease your wrinkles by receiving a laser resurfacing treatment, you might receive one laser session.

Receiving Hair Removal Treatments

In general, will need to get multiple treatments if you are using our laser to remove your unwanted hair. Each of your hair follicles goes through a growth cycle. Our laser energy will heat up the hair follicles that are in the active growth stage of this cycle.

Since each of your hairs will move into this active stage at different times, you will probably need to receive multiple treatments. To give your individual hair follicles enough time to enter a new phase of your growth cycle, we will wait a couple of weeks between your hair removal sessions. Getting several laser sessions will allow us to achieve more noticeable improvements in your unwanted hair.

Designing Your Treatment Schedule

When you come in for your initial consultation, we will discuss your aesthetic concerns and choose laser treatment for you. After we have taken a look at your unwanted hair, damaged veins, or other cosmetic issues, we will explain your treatment plan in more detail.

How Should I Prepare for My Treatment?

The rules that you need to follow before your appointment will depend on the type of laser treatment that you are receiving. That said, there are some general guidelines that you should keep in mind when you are considering our range of laser treatments.

Avoid the Sun

Tanned skin may have a negative reaction to our laser treatments. As a result, you should not go to a tanning bed before you get your treatment. In addition, you should wear sunscreen and use hats, long sleeves, and other methods to protect the skin in your target area.

Adjust Your Hair Removal Habits

If you are using our Cutera laser to remove your unwanted hair, you’ll need to avoid waxing or tweezing the hair in your treatment area during the weeks before your appointment. Our laser works by changing the condition of the hair follicles in your target area. If you use wax or a tweezer to completely remove these follicles, our laser will be less effective.

That said, you shouldn’t arrive at our office with long, grown-out hair in your target area. If your individual hairs are very long, our laser energy will be less concentrated. To avoid this issue, you should shave your hair on the night before your treatment. To protect your skin, you should use a high-quality razor and try not to create cuts or other injuries in your target area.

Adjust Your Medications

Some medications and supplements can alter your body’s response to laser energy. For example, if you start taking antibiotics, you might become more sensitive to light.

To ensure that you have a good response to our laser, you should tell us about all of the over-the-counter medications, prescription medications, and other substances that you are taking. We will tell you if you need to adjust your supplements and medications before you get your laser treatment.

What Will Happen During My Cutera Laser Treatment?

We perform our laser resurfacing treatments, hair removal treatments, and other laser services in our comfortable office in Cincinnati.

Starting Your Treatment

You should wear loose clothing to our office and avoid applying makeup onto the skin in your target area. Since our laser has a sophisticated cooling system, you should feel very relaxed when we begin to send energy into your tissues. That said, if you are nervous about this process, we may apply a topical anesthetic onto the skin in your target area.

Treating Your Target Area

Once your skin is ready, we will turn on our handheld laser and send energy into your tissues. The techniques that we use during this process will be customized to fit the aesthetic problem that you are trying to correct.

If you are trying to remove damaged veins from your legs, we will use our laser to send precisely targeted energy into these weakened blood vessels. If you are trying to eliminate your unwanted hair, we will focus our energy on the hair follicles in your target area. You may experience a gentle snapping feeling as we heat up your hair follicles.

Completing Your Treatment

After we finish sending laser energy into your body, you will be able to get up and go on with the rest of your planned activities for the day. Although you will be able to continue performing duties at your job, you will need to follow all of our aftercare instructions. For example, we will probably tell you to stay away from strong sunlight while your skin is adjusting to your treatment.

How Long Will My Cutera Laser Treatment Take?

Each of our laser treatments will take a different amount of time to complete. The condition of your hair, veins, and other features can also affect the length of your appointment.

Laser Hair Removal

If you would like to treat a small area of unwanted hair, your appointment will be very quick. For example, it might take us about five minutes to remove unwanted hair from your upper lip or underarms. If you are trying to reduce the amount of hair on your legs or back, your appointment might last for 45 minutes to one hour.

Laser Resurfacing

If you would like to improve imperfections in one area of your face, your treatment will probably take about 30 minutes to finish. If you would like to treat all of the tissues on your face, your appointment will probably last for about two hours.

Laser Vein and Pigmentation Treatments

If you have a large number of sunspots or damaged veins, this type of laser treatment will take longer to complete. We can provide you with a specific estimate of your appointment length after we have analyzed the condition of your desired treatment area.

Am I a Good Candidate for These Cutera Laser Treatment?

In the past, lasers could only treat people with a narrow range of skin types. Fortunately, our Cutera laser has controlled temperature options and other features that allow us to treat people with many different skin types. We can also adjust the wavelengths of our laser energy to address different types of aesthetic problems and issues.

Fixing Your Aesthetic Problems

Since our laser can fix many different issues, you are likely to be a good candidate for one of our treatments. In particular, you should think about getting a laser treatment if you have sun damage, unwanted hair, bulging veins, or other aesthetic issues.

Assessing Your Health

Before we treat your unwanted hair or improve the condition of your skin, we will need to go over your medical background and take a look at the skin and hair in your desired treatment area. If you have a serious medical issue, you might not be able to use our laser treatments. In addition, you may not be able to receive these treatments if you are a smoker.

Schedule a Consultation

If you have bulging veins, unwanted hair, or skin issues, you should think about fixing these problems with Cutera laser treatment. These laser treatments can dramatically change your appearance by reducing unwanted hair, wrinkles, bulging veins, and other imperfections.
