What Hormones Do I Need to Stay Healthy and Feel Great? Estrogen? Progesterone? Testosterone?

hormone-balanceEstrogens: Estrone, and Estradiol

Not all estrogens are created equal. Since 1930 over 100 synthetic estrogens have been developed. Many are more potent than the natural estrogens. The cancer-producing and heart-disease promoting effects of these new compounds are only beginning to be recognized in humans. Thank goodness the number of doctors in favor of using biologically equivalent estrogen, which matches the body’s own chemistry, is growing. Remember – what the media and even studies often refer to as ‘estrogen’ is not actually true estrogen. Synthetic compounds are not identical to what the body produces. So, when women hear that estrogen is bad for them, they don’t realize they are hearing about the negative studies surrounding pharmaceuticals. And further, when women are made to fear their own estrogen, there is something terribly amiss in the land.

ESTRADIOL is the predominant and most active form of estrogen produced by a healthy ovary.

ESTRONE is normally present in lower levels than estradiol, and is a very potent breast stimulator. A healthy ovary will produce twice as much estradiol as estrone, but after menopause this ratio is reversed, and too much estrone is produced. Proper hormone balancing will produce low constant levels of estradiol, and even lower levels of estrone.

BIO-EQUIVALENT ESTROGEN is biologically equivalent to that which your body has produced all of your life. Our use of pellet therapy comes with a long track record of positive research studies showing the healthful benefits. All because it works with the body to simply replace what’s missing and return your body to its youthful 2:1 ratio.

Testosterone

Steroids are not the real deal. Exactly how testosterone works is not completely understood. To complicate matters even further, our attitudes about testosterone are influenced by cultural beliefs about masculinity and femininity. Testosterone, usually thought of as a male hormone, is something we all have and need in order to maintain our quality of life. How much our bodies make on any given day is influenced by gender, age, activity level, time of day, stress, menstrual cycle menopause and medications. In men, most testosterone production occurs in the testicle, with a small amount produced in the adrenal gland. In women, most production occurs in the ovary while a tiny amount is produced by the adrenal gland. In both men and women, testosterone production declines with age. We do know that testosterone plays important roles in the body of both men and women. It is vitally important to nutrition, sex drive, energy  and mood. High levels of testosterone influence masculine traits. Studies suggest that testosterone directly impacts muscle development, fat levels, bone mass, many different parts of the brain, mood, depression, energy level, ability to have orgasm, and ability to sleep. Anxiety and irritability are increased in both men and women who suffer from testosterone deficiency.

Some Testosterone Myths. It is true that excess testosterone can cause a variety of side effects. When the body is given too much, it will respond accordingly. This illustrates the importance of hormone balancing  which is a delicate act. If your dose of bio-equivalent testosterone is excessive, or if you use anabolic steroids or synthetic testosterone you may have significant side effects–hair loss, facial hair growth, irritability, water retention, acne, headaches, joint stiffness  prostate problems and elevated liver enzymes. But this will not happen when you properly replace what your body needs. You won’t have these side effects when you properly balance your hormone replacement. The endocrine system is normally a fantastic balanced system with exquisite feedback controls. When utilizing bio-equivalent hormone pellets, the body responds by utilizing the hormone replacement that it needs. Pellets provide a delivery system that allows the body to use the normal amounts that it is used to. Simple as that.
