It combines two lasers: a 1064 nm Nd: YAG laser and a 755 nm Alexandrite laser. The combination means that the Excel HR laser can be safely used on all skin types. The Excel HR also has an adjustable temperature and a cooling mechanism to keep the patient from becoming overheated.
What Does Laser Hair Removal Involve?
During this treatment, the technician will use a handheld device that emits a laser. Laser hair removal works because the laser targets the melanin or pigment in the follicles. The laser harmlessly passes through the skin to heat the pigment and, thus, destroy the hair follicle. Depending on the size of the treatment area, laser hair removal can take a few minutes, or it can take over an hour.
Historically, laser hair removals worked only for people with dark hair and light skin because of the contrast between the hair and skin. Thankfully, improvements in technology have both made laser hair removal safe for dark-skinned clients and widened the pool of candidates who can benefit.
